Lenovo Yoga

Key Features
  • 360 folding screen
  • Ultrabook spec laptop
  • 17mm thick
  • The Yoga is designed for Windows 8, and will arrive as soon as Microsoft releases the OS

The Yoga at first looks like a smart but conventional 13in  ultrabook. Its metal clad on top and bottom with a consistently slim 17mm profile, inside is an attractive and comfortable leather palm rest and keyboard surround, a normal size keyboard and a normal touchpad. However, open it up and not only does the screen fold flat (a signature feature of many Lenovo laptops) but it will continue going all the way round so that it resembles a large tablet, just with a keyboard and touchpad on the back.

The hinge mechanism works really well, providing a smooth and solid action that secure yet easy to operate. It's actually a Lenovo patent, which is part of the reason why we've never seen another laptop/tablet hybrid of this type before.

Once the screen passes the 180 degree point, the keyboard and touchpad are deactivated so you've no chance of any accidental presses.

Considering this is the first laptop of its type, the experience is surprisingly slick. the mechanism just works and once in tablet mode its easy to use with a responsive touchscreen that's sensitive to 10 touch points. And as a laptop it functions just like any other.

Razer’s Project Fiona tablet: The core i7 windows 8 based tablet.

Razer is a name synonomous with gaming power.Their complete line of peripherals and gear is dedicated to bringing the best gaming experience possible to their customers. It makes sense, then, that Razer would go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to designing a tablet for gamers. Enter Razer's Project Fiona.
Razer's Project Fiona is going to change the way you think about gaming on a tablet. Imagine playing all of your PC games on your iPad or Android tablet with the all the functionality of your gamepad built right in. For those have you who, like me, have enjoyed the handheld portable gaming devices over the years like the PSP or Nintendo DS, the Razer Fiona is the next step up in that portable gaming. The only difference is, it offers a lot more in terms of processing power and gaming potential.

In addition to the Core i7 CPU, Project Fiona will be running a hybrid Windows 8 operating system. Since its Windows-based, it will run all of your existing game-pad enabled PC games right from the start. Any future games developed for the PC and playable with a game-pad will automatically work as well. In addition, since Project Fiona is a tablet with an accelerometers and a multi-touch screen, new games will inevitably be developed to take advantage of these features. Project Fiona comes with the game-pad built in.
